Melissa Davlin is a freelance writer based in Boise, Idaho, specializing in politics, refugee-related topics and social issues. She spent five and a half years working at the Twin Falls Times-News, first as a features writer and then as a government reporter. She covered the 2012 and 2013 Idaho Legislative sessions and the 2012 elections. In that time, Davlin was a regular guest on Idaho Reports and a panelist on Idaho Debates. Davlin has won more than a dozen journalism awards for her work, including a first place UISAPA for her series on refugees in Idaho and a first place SPJ award for her series on a recovering meth addict.
Davlin is the author of “Dal and Potatoes: Bhutanese Refugees in Idaho.” The book is due out in late 2013.
